Life of a propane bottle

Lehr propane line trimmer and the life of a propane bottle

I have been using my propane line trimmer significantly the last 2 months.  I have noticed a few methods of making a 16.4 oz. propane bottle last longer.

A single bottle of propane runs my weed eater for a greater number of minutes when I save up my work and do as much string trimming work as I can on a single pull of the started rope instead of stopping and restarting more often.  Also, disconnecting the propane bottle for storate and/or transport releases some propane from the bottle and discharges excess propane from the fuel system.  Discharging propane from the fuel system of the weedeater means that it must be primed again by pulling the starter rope 6 to 1o times.  Once the weedeater is primed it startes quite easily and it holds its prime for a significant period of time.  However, priming the system is a necessary pain once you disconnect the bottle.  For greater fuel efficiency, allow the propane bottle to remain connected to the weedeater as much as possible in accordance with the Lehr safety/users manual.

Learning proper nuances of my new propane powered line trimmer will take some time but the learning curve is worth the effort for much greater fuel economy.

Although fuel efficiency has been an issue, overall, I have had very good results with the string trimmer and I am learning how to make a bottle of propane last as long as possible.

One pound propane bottles cost about $3 each with tax and runs a propane powered weedeater for about 2 hours.  At this price, the cost of propane is more expensive than gasoline for your string trimmer.

Refilling the one pound propane bottles will greatly reduce your cost.  Have you used the propane refill adapters.  I want to hear your thoughts.
